Mountainside on The New Golden Mile of Estepona

Our last blog reviewed the most popular areas that can be found “mountainside” on the New Golden Mile, set opposite the beach along the N-340 coastal road, between the town of Benahavís the city of Estepona. Going West from Bel-Air towards Estepona, offering a large variety of properties to choose from, diverse landscapes and settings and unique benefits making this an ideal choice for a permanent, rental or investment property. Los Flamingos

Los Flamingos Golf is a picturesque golf course with stunning views down to the sea and the African coastline in the distance. Designed by the prestigious architect Antonio García Garrido, known for his scrupulous landscaping, an 18-hole 71-par course, with generous greens and precision fairways. Los Flamingos Golf has hosted prestigious golf tournaments in 2002, 2003 and 2004 with the European Seniors and Womens Spanish Open in 2010.

Los Flamingos is home to the luxury Italian palace style Hotel Anantara, previously named Villa Padierna Palace, a high end luxury spa hotel opening right onto the golf course with exceptional service and gastronomy.

This stunning gated community offers a large selection of quality apartments, villas and plots for sale surrounding the golf course, with open views to the golf and down to the Mediterranean Sea. Many of the bespoke villas in the area are modern in style with high end materials and the latest technology.

Cancelada

A traditional village that has grown in the past decade, ever more popular for Investment properties and permanent living. One of the most charismatic things about Cancelada is the arch, located it he main square. With a public Spanish school and offering a classical village lifestyle with shops, bars, restaurants all within the central area. To the north the road connects to Los Flamingos Golf Resort, currently mostly under construction with a variety of new build properties to choose from, with beautiful modern apartment complexes to stunning independent contemporary villas within gated communities. All set a few minutes away from the village itself.

Crossing the Rio Guadalmansa from the area of Los Flamingos and Cancelada we find the area of La Resina and Selwo, a more rural area still with working fincas as well as developed complexes and private residences.

La Resina Golf & Country Club

Came to fruition in 2005, designed by Criag Cook and Bradley Smith who created the course around beautiful lakes and ancient olive trees, taking into account the local terrain creating one of Andalusia’s best 9-hole golf course and club houses. Brand new modern designer villas surround the golf course itself as well as apartment complexes with stunning views to the sea. Closer to the coastal road is a commercial area and large garden center Agrojardin with year round eatery and restaurants in the vicinity.

The most famous tourist attraction on the New Golden Mile, “Selwo Adventure” a wildlife safari park, and home to 2000 animals of diverse species from every continent, set in a charming natural environment and spanning over 100 hectares. Opened in 1999, this year being its 20th Anniversary. Selwo also offers unique stays in the Selwo Lodge Hotel, an experience for those who want to enjoy the park to its fullest.

Surrounded by the “sounds of nature” properties in the vicinity include independent very large established residential villas as well as new build villa gated complexes. A few apartment complexes are also set in the vicinity.

El Velerin & El Padron

This area is a typically traditional residential area with well-established Fincas, Cortijo style villas and smaller independent family homes with land. A large portion of Avocados and orange groves can be found in this valley. The area also offers various supermarkets and amenities just next to the coast road.

A second tourist attraction is the “Escuela de Arte Ecuestre” the Equestrian School, with over 20 years of experience, opened in 1998 they offer fantastic installations, within a traditional Spanish architectural style that harmoniously integrates with the natural surroundings of the area. The school offers courses, paddocks, pony club, hosts events as well as boasting a shop and restaurant.

Finishing in Estepona town center, this town maintains its very Spanish traditions and original architectural structure, which can be seen along its charming white-walled popular streets and picturesque squares. Renowned for its beaches with 2 Blue Flag beaches, stretching along 21kms of coastline, a popular port and working fishing marina with many tapas bars and restaurants as well as all the amenities and facilities of a town. Surrounded by sea and the mountains of Sierra Bermeja, creating a stunning micro-climate enjoyed throughout the year.
