Best Unspoiled Beaches in Malaga
Costa del Sol is famous for its fine, sandy beaches. The Mediterranean coastline measures 161 kilometres (100 miles). In total, there are 125 beaches, and they all have fine views. Some of them can become very crowded during the main summer season. However, there are also many unspoiled beaches with beautiful, natural scenery. La Caleta de Maro
This secluded beach has natural, unspoiled scenery. You have to bring your own refreshments as there are no cafes, restaurants or hotels to be seen. The beach of soft, dark sand is around 400 metres in length. You have to find your way down a very rugged, steep hill covered in bushes and trees to reach the shore, don’t worry, there is a shuttle bus that drives you through it. The travel is worthwhile when you admire the coastline of the little bay. There are rock pools to explore where the cliffs meet the Mediterranean Sea. It’s an ideal location for scuba diving and snorkelling.

Cala El Cañuelo
You’ll love to visit this unspoiled beach. It is sheltered by high cliffs facing the Mediterranean Sea. The beach isn’t very easy to access which helps to keep visitors to a minimum. Once you’ve reached the golden sand, you’ll be able to relax and admire the incredible scenery. It should look amazing in your photographs! You can enjoy walking the length of the beach and exploring the rocky terrain. Many visitors like to go snorkelling to see the submerged coral reef. The beach is actually within the boundary of the Cerro Gordo nature reserve. Occasionally, the local deer herds can be seen on the top of the cliffs.

Playa de Chullera
There are 700 metres of pale, golden sand for you to stroll along in this quiet location. The steep hills surrounding the bay are noted for their distinctive rock formations. Parts of the beach are littered with many smooth, sandstone crags. The rocks that are submerged in the Mediterranean Sea also include some finasilico slate. Although the wide beach is very spacious, it doesn’t usually attract large numbers of visitors. The beach is sometimes referred to as Punta de Cala Sardina.

Playa de La Viborilla
This beach of dark sand and gravel is one of the smallest. It has a length of approximately 100 metres. It is located near to Benalmádena which you might be able to see in the next cove or bay. This picturesque beach is famous for its tropical island setting. The surrounding steep hills are covered with mature palm trees, bushes and many other plants. They help to shelter the beach. Viborillas is ideal for snorkelling as the cove has calm water and an abundance of marine creatures. You can enjoy this beautiful haven at any time, but it’s particularly attractive early in the morning.

Alberquillas Beach
This isolated beach is wonderful for avoiding the crowds. It is part of the Acantilados de Maro nature reserve. You can see beautiful cliffs, rocks and coves, but no hotels or buildings. There are no amenities at the beach. The views at sunset are often particularly striking. You’ll love the relaxed atmosphere as you go for quiet walks. You can enjoy snorkelling and diving while looking for fish in the sea. You can even swim into small caves hidden beneath the waves.
