Marbella is famous for its busy city lifestyle, beaches & luxury shopping, and is possibly less known known for its incredible natural surroundings, enjoyed by many on a regular basis. Tourists come for our unique microclimate throughout the year and for many different reasons, for relaxation, entertainment and for our variety of outdoor activities that can be experienced in beautiful settings, always accompanied by a consistent warm climate.

Marbella offers a large selection of outdoor activities, here is our top pick list:

Marbellas promenade Our beachfront promenade now stretches from Marbella town center to San Pedro and is continuing works to connect through to Estepona (many areas already finished). A wonderful wide promenade, with many sitting areas right next to the sea, enjoying fantastic sea views. The town has taken care to make the promenade appealing to people of all ages. Occasionally you will find children’s playgrounds, spacious green areas and outdoor gym facilities along the stretch, as well as water fountains for people and smaller ones specifically for our animal pets. Public toilets can also be found in strategic points including disabled access bathrooms and ramps at each entrance and exit. The stretch is impeccable and is cleaned on a regular basis. It is an ideal location for physical activities and sports as well as cycling, used by many on a daily basis from the early morning to late in to the evenings.

Cycling & Bike Routes. Marbella is one of the cities with the cleanest air in Europe and cycling is becoming more and more popular. Specific cycling lanes are up and running in the heart of Marbella town, Puerto Banus and San Pedro set alongside the most frequented roads and are clearly painted in blue for good visibility.

Parque Tres Jardines San Pedro (Three Gardens Park) Opened in 2012 and located to the East of San Pedro town. Named after the 3 different garden areas which can be found in within the park: The Arab Garden with geometric shapes and the use of water; palms, orange, pomegranate, fig and olive trees. The Mediterranean Gardens with pine forests, meadows and pine trees, rosemary, arbutus, hawthorn and broom. The Subtropical Gardens feature typical vegetation found on the Costa Del Sol with ficus, jacaranda, oleander and orange trees. The park includes a large children’s playground, a lake with ducks and a dog park of 4500m2 of enclosed area with picnic tables and sand pits. Pathways and ample parking at the entrance.

Juanar Set in the mountains near to the whitewashed village of Ojen is the nature reserve “El Refugio de Juanar”, less than 15 minutes’ drive from Marbella and La Cañada Shopping Center area. This nature reserve boasts a well-known hotel with a variety of rooms, comfortable relaxation and leisure areas, a wood burning fireplace (in the winter months), a tennis court and swimming pool. This hotel with restaurant and bar, is open year round and great for rural tourism. Surrounded by nature and set within a pine forest. There are also a great many beautiful chestnut trees, cherry trees, olive trees as well as eucalyptus. Many diverse types or orchids and plants grow in the humid rocks under the pine canopy making for a unique environment for flora. A natural reserve, with many fauna including mountain goats, golden eagles, owls and forager animals. From the hotel there are a number of paths ideal for trekking or hiking leading to the towns of, Ojen, Istan, Pozuelo, Marbella and up to top of La Concha mountain. Spectacular panoramic views are enjoyed throughout the reserve but some of the most impressive can be looking across the Mediterranean to the African coastline as well as from La Concha mountains peak. For those who prefer a casual day out and a spot of lunch, Marbella has the best place, where you can bring your own food and prepare a BBQ at your convenience:

Nagueles Park Set at the foot of Sierra Blanca just above Marbella town, next to Swans International School, this location is ideal for picnics and BBQs. A natural park within a tall pine forest, with plenty of shade to enjoy a day out in the countryside less than 5 minutes’ drive from Marbella town center and Puerto Banus. Extremely well organized for BBQs with purpose made spots, each with 4 grill areas, sinks with water and preparation surfaces, close to multiple tables and benches. Just opposite is a new Dog Park, a large woodland and a smaller area with different dog activities and training facilities including, tunnel, seesaws etc…
